The classroom environment affects student performance. Discover the environmental factors influencing learning in your classroom, find out how to monitor and control them to improve outcomes. Explore scientific enquiries to engage your students and facilitate greater awareness and ownership of their learning environment. Make simple changes to improve student’s performance.

Ground-breaking research by Professor Stephen Heppell and his team is shining a light on the impact of environmental factors on student performance. These factors are often over looked when attempts are made to improve outcomes for students. We will explore seven factors that influence learning and provide simple remedies for your learning spaces that can be implemented immediately, including innovative classroom greening approaches.

This research is particularly important in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, where factors such as airflow, temperature and humidity all play a part in disease transmission, and more generally under every school’s responsibility to provide a safe and effective learning environment.
Curriculum-based practical science enquiries and activities that can be carried out by pupils in the classroom will be shared.
