Sharing principles or structure underlying a topic can be motivating for learners and help them build a deeper understanding of Biology. We will see how this approach can be used when teaching about enzymes and how it applies to enhancing learners appreciation of the importance of biological knowledge to society.

He does this by helping students to see the underlying principles behind what they are learning, to be in awe of the incredible elegance of life's solutions to problems, and to realise how the life they see in the world around them relates to what they learn in the classroom.
